Dunsyre Common in South Lanarkshire was a significant meeting place for Covenanters in the 17th century, particularly associated with the 1679 Killing Time, when Presbyterian dissenters gathered there to resist religious persecution under the Episcopalian regime. The site reflects the broader tradition of hidden or open-air worship in Scotland during the period of religious conflict.
