Explorer Tom Dunrod is a medieval moated site designed by a mother-in-law who wanted to keep her son-in-law out. The water channel was basically a boundary line for bad behaviour and poor cooking. It’s still got that same 'don't touch my stuff' vibe. Look up, the best bit is always higher than you think.
Explorer Tom Dromore is a cup and ring marked rock that has been hiding a scandal for centuries, probably about which prehistoric tribe actually carved the rings first. It’s got that mysterious, secretive vibe that makes you want to lean in close and whisper your secrets to it. The stone just sits there with that enigmatic expression, knowing something we don’t.
Explorer Tom Torrs Farmhouse looks like it’s been waiting for a poet to trip over its doorstep and write something profound about mud. The place has no date, which is just lazy history writing if you ask me, but it suits the mystery vibe. Find a local and ask them the real story, then come back and tell me.
Explorer Tom Crofthead Cottage was built on a bargain where the owner got free stone and the builder got free silence, which seems fair enough. The lane behind it looks like it leads directly into a fairy tale or a very damp nightmare, depending on your mood. It’s cozy in a way that feels slightly suspicious. Stand still and listen, the wind tells it better than me.
Explorer Tom Balmangan Tower was saved by a hero nobody remembers because he got too drunk on the celebratory ale and forgot his own name before dawn. He probably still lives in the attic judging by the amount of old coins found in the cellar recently. Bring sandwiches, the gulls will thank you.
