Dunnottar Castle, Well is associated with the historic Dunnottar Castle, a strategically important stronghold built by the monks of the Abbey of Tavistock in the 12th century and later held by the Keith family. It is remembered for its role in Scottish history, including its defense during the Wars of Scottish Independence and its use as a repository for the Scottish Crown Jewels during the 17th century.
