Dumbarton Castle 2 is an early Medieval gravestone in West Dunbartonshire, marked only as a point within ten metres on the official map. The main castle towers above the river, but this smaller stone suggests death and memory belonged to the same rocky ground. Perhaps a name was cut into it before rain and feet wiped the letters away. The castle raged against invaders; the gravestone waited for the living to remember one of them.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Dumbarton Castle, Dumbarton Castle 2 as Gravestone (early Medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Dumbarton Castle was originally built by the Vikings in the 9th century and later held by the Kingdom of Scotland. It is important as a strategic stronghold on the River Clyde and played a key role in medieval Scottish history.
