Drumgoon Fort is a double-banked fairy ring in County Cavan, large enough for a small village yet closed to ordinary reason. Its eastern gap aligns with the entrance, but the soil itself seems to breathe, shifting the boundary between human memory and fairy time. People have walked past its banks for generations, some losing an hour and others losing a name. The fort does not demand worship; it demands recognition that the landscape keeps its own calendar.

Raised oval area (int. dims. 41.5m NNE-SSW; 36m WNW-ESE) enclosed by two earthen banks with outer fosses. Modern field boundaries skirt the exterior of the outer fosse from S-W-NNW and from NW-N. Corresponding breaks in banks at E probably represent original entrance, although there are no accompanying causeways. Drumgoon Fort, Swellan Lower is a likely early-medieval ringfort, characterized by a raised oval enclosure with two earthen banks and outer ditches. Local folklore, common to many such sites in Ireland, associates it with the fairies, though specific traditions connected to this fort are not recorded.
