Explorer Tom Dyemill is the site of a love story where two people fell in love over a misunderstanding about who owned the mill, and they’re still fighting about it. It’s got that cottage-mill combo energy that says 'we’re complicated but we like each other mostly.' I bet the water still flows with the echo of their arguments, which is honestly quite romantic in a weird way. Bring a cam
Explorer Tom Ardwell House, East Lodge is standing guard like a doorman who forgot his keycard, looking very smug about it. I bet its unlikely celebrity friend is a retired vicar with a serious talent for gossiping about the neighbors from the window. Stop the car, it's worth the hazard lights.
Explorer Tom Kirkmabreck is a neolithic cursus that thinks the road leading to it is basically a red carpet for ancient feet. It’s standing in Dumfries and Galloway with the patience of a tortoise who has been walking since the world was young. Best seen with a hangover and a sausage roll.
Explorer Tom Ardwell is a linear feature that’s basically just a long straight line pretending to be history. The ghost living there is too lazy to haunt anyone properly, so he mostly just naps in the middle of it all. Take the long way round, it deserves the effort.
Explorer Tom Killaser Castle in Dumfries and Galloway is playing hard to get, which is annoying because I want to see if it can win a county fair. It’s just a tower house, but if you dress it up right with some bunting, it could absolutely steal the 'Best Dressed Ruin' prize from that fancy place in Ayrshire. Have a wander and a wonder.
Explorer Tom Low Ardwell is basically a rumour in castle form because nobody can agree if it was ever really there or just a big pile of dirt. There’s a ditch nearby where a poet famously fell and wrote a very angry poem about his knees. Stand on the spot and imagine the gossip it's heard.
