Dromore Castle in County Down was built in the late 16th century by the MacDonnell family, Gaelic lords of Antrim, during the period of English colonization in Ireland. It is remembered as a symbol of resistance and as a key site in the Nine Years' War, later being associated with the Flight of the Earls in 1607.
