Two weathered slabs still stand in Cork pasture, leaning across a gap narrow enough for a child to crawl through but wide enough to swallow a shadow. A third stone lies between them now, though it once rested north of the uprights, suggesting the tomb has shifted or been forgotten rather than destroyed. The arrangement hints at a small wedge tomb where people may have laid dead beneath soil and grass, waiting for centuries while cattle grazed above their quiet chamber.
In pasture. Two slabs (H 0.75m; Wth 1.15m; T 0.15m: H 1.1m; Wth 1.4m; T 0.25m) aligned E-W are 1.9m apart at W end and 1.6m apart at E end (O Nualláin 1982, 45, no. 16). Third stone (L 0.68m; 0.35m x 0.25m), mentioned by Condon (1916, 159, no. 163) as lying 0.38m to N of upright slabs, now lies in between them. O Nualláin (ibid.) suggests stones may be remains of small wedge tomb but that 'evidence is not sufficient to warrant inclusion' in his main list.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.

Portal dolmen; likely Neolithic in date. Its significance lies in its structural alignment and the presence of multiple standing stones, reflecting early megalithic funerary practices in the region.
