Daingean Bona Cuilinn, recorded in the Annals of the Four Masters, burned in 1145, yet the land remembered its strength because Dangan means stronghold. The O'Birnes held it through turmoil, the younger Donogh owning 160 acres when the 1641 Rebellion came, while the Mac Dermots of Moylurg never claimed it.
