Dallán is a small rectangular standing stone in County Cork, Ireland, rising fifty-eight centimetres above pasture on a northeast-facing slope. Its long axis points east to west, aligning the marker with the daily path of the sun rather than human ambition. The stone may have guided herds, marked a boundary, or witnessed transactions now forgotten, while surrounding fields continued their ordinary work of growing grass and carrying rain.
