What is recorded here

Dallan stands in County Cork, a small stone on a gentle slope that vanished before modern cameras arrived. It may be the recumbent block Bowman measured in 1934, lying wait while people walked past or forgot it entirely.

Not marked on 1842 and 1904 OS 6-inch maps. Recorded by OS Field Memoranda (1933) as standing stone 2ft 2in H, 1ft 2in wide by 11in. In forestry, on gentle S-facing slope. Stone removed. Probably stone recorded by Bowman (1934, 437) in P. Lane's '...5ft by 2ft 8in by 6in - recumbent'. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
