What is recorded here
Dallan is a broken standing stone in County Cork, Ireland, now buried where it stood after field fence clearance. Bowman recorded the remaining portion in 1934 as 1 ft 8in high by 6ft 10in girth, though neither the 1842 nor 1904 maps marked it. It may have watched sheep, weather or passing people from its south-facing slope for centuries before becoming furniture for a fence line.
Not marked on 1842 and 1904 OS 6-inch maps. In pasture, on S-facing slope. Removed during field fence clearance and buried where it stood. Bowman (1934, 113) recorded broken stone in this townland, with remaining portion measuring '1 ft 8in high by 6ft 10in girth'.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 4: North Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2000). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.

Likely dating to the Early Christian or Iron Age period, the stone may have had ritual or territorial significance. Its partial destruction and burial suggest later agricultural or land-use changes disrupted its original context.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
