Culdaff Fairy Fort near the Beach — Report the wrong picture

Marianne and I walked past the Culdaff Fairy Fort only once, but the flat oval platform remained sharp in her memory because it stood like a forgotten stage above the rocky shore. She remembered the steep northern drop and the way the wood smelled of rain, not the exact shape of the bank or the history written about it. That is why I believe the place is still alive: it gives itself up in layers, waiting for someone to stop measuring and begin watching.

An oval platform c. 2m above surrounding land, 40m E-W and 28m N-S. There is slight evidence for a bank at the E end and a very tentative suggestion of a fosse and outer bank at this end also. The top is generally level. It is situated on a rocky wooded knoll which drops steeply on the N side. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal.
