What is recorded here

Rectangular shaped cross-inscribed stone (dims. 0.6m H x 0.35m Wth x 0.16m T) standing immediately inside wall footings of S wall in centre of medieval church site of Knocklong. The top of the stone has been broken off. The E face of the stone has an inscribed Latin Cross with forked terminals to the arms of the cross. Probably dates to the early Christian period (5th–10th centuries), associated with the nearby medieval church site. Likely served as a memorial or liturgical marker, with the cross symbolizing Christian faith and possibly marking a sacred space or boundary.
