Inishcaltra, County Clare: a recumbent cross-slab lies in the western half of the Saint’s graveyard, close to the west wall of Teampal na bhfear ngonta. The flat stone measures about 1.27m by 0.45m and bears a Latin cross with hollowed angles in slight relief, its base line rising to form a panel around the whole design. Macalister called it twelfth-century type, and it still rests where burial, prayer and memory were kept together on the holy island.

Noted by Macalister (1916-17, 157, no. 57) as of ‘twelfth-century type’ and described as a slab measuring 4ft 2in (1.27m) by 1ft 6in (0.45m), with a Latin cross with hollowed angles in ‘slight relief’ with the base line carried up to make a frame or panel enclosing the whole design.
