Cross-slab in Churchland, County Offaly, holds a fragment of a cross with a pointed foot, now housed inside the local church. St. Kieran the elder founded the place in the fifth century, suggesting the stone witnessed prayers long before written memory. The broken shape invites wonder about the hands that cut it and the lives that gathered around its shadow.
