An Gorta Dubha holds one cross-slab, number 535, excavated in 1991 and set against the east gable of its medieval church. Laurence Dunne recorded that solitary stone in 2010, while Caimin O'Brien later shaped the account. The chambered tomb, fortress and holy field around it must have sounded like a small world complete enough to remember.

In 2010 a graveyard survey carried out by Laurence Dunne recorded the following details about cross-slab no. 535: 'A single cross-slab (535), excavated in 1991, stands against the E gable of the medieval church' (Dunne 2010, 15).
