One broken cross arm and head still stand in the children’s burial ground, not much bigger than a child’s outstretched hands. It belongs to the old church enclosure in County Galway, where the young dead were set apart even when the stones were rough. What is missing has not made it lesser; it has made the shape easier to remember.

Located within the W half of a children’s burial ground (GA096-159001-), which lies in the SE quadrant of an ecclesiastical enclosure (GA096-159002-). Described by Higgins (1987, ii, 386, no. 106) as a fragment (L 0.35m; Wth 0.3m) of a plain cross. Just the head and the left arm survive. It is roughly cut from a block of weathered limestone.
