Fire took the head and one arm, leaving a shaft and stubbed cross on Sceilg Mhichíl. What remains is small, thin and damaged enough to be forgotten, yet the surviving angle still points to the shape that stood there. The cross may have marked prayer, ownership or warning; its absence makes the meaning sharper. Even broken, it denied the fire complete victory.

This poorly preserved, fire-damaged fragment of a stone cross (L 0.46m; Wth 0.4m; T 0.05m) was on Sceilg Mhichíl and is now in the care of the OPW (National Monuments Depot, Killarney). It displays one arm with traces of rounded angles. The second arm and most of the head are missing but the shaft survives. The SMR number at its original location on Sceilg Mhichíl is KE104A001129-.
