Cross in Ardrahan North stands in the middle of the village without an inscription explaining itself. A raised platform, a fine stone cross, and not a word about who paid: whoever put it up would never have survived in politics.

Freestanding cut limestone market cross, erected c.1860, comprising square-profile cut-stone pier having projecting pyramidal capping and cross finial, set on stepped plinth.

This rare example of a well executed cut limestone market cross serves as a local landmark in the centre of Ardrahan. Unusually, it lacks any explanatory inscription. Its form may perhaps be in imitation of the memorial or funerary monuments known as leachts erected at several locations in the county around the year 1700, and of similar general form.
