Kilcolgan still holds a 1716 prayer stone, set into a socketed base and buried beneath grass. The shallow slab bears a Latin cross on a stepped Calvary foundation, with INRI across its arms and a command beneath: pray in honour of God and the saint. That much is carved, not invented. What is lost is the voice that spoke the words, the festival or fever that brought people there, and the saint whose name the carver left behind.

Located on a poorly preserved and overgrown altar (GA103-127----), this cross-inscribed rectangular slab (H 0.6m; Wth 0.9m; T 0.12m) is dated 1716. The Latin cross stands on a stepped Calvary base and the arms bear the monogram INRI. The following inscription is beneath the cross: 'PRAY IN/ HONOUR/ OF GOD/ AND THE/ SAINT/ 1716'.
