Half a metre wide and three-tenths thick, the granite block stands in a Dunmanoge graveyard with a Latin cross carved in false relief. Its round top catches rain and light like a shoulder laid bare. Whoever cut that cross worked stone heavy enough to resist every tool they used. The depth of the mark and the patience it required turn a quiet field into a chamber where human determination still echoes.
