Half a cross disappears into the wall of Archibold's castle on Castle Street, Dalkey. The slab tapers toward the base like a grave marker, perhaps taken from St. Begnet's and dropped into newer building without ceremony. Whatever life it marked is buried twice now: once under earth, once under stone and mortar.

Situated on the S side of Castle Street in the ground floor of Archibold's castle (DU023-023014-). A cross-inscribed slab re-used as a lintel in the construction of Archibold's castle. The decoration comprises an incised latin cross. The shaft of the cross runs with the longer axis of the slab. The decoration is partially hidden in the construction. The slab tapers towards the cross-base indicating that it was a re-used grave slab probably from St. Begnet's (Mason 1983, 143, Swords, K. ed 2009, 105).
