Cross in Waterford City

Found during 1996 in the graveyard (WA009-005072-) of St. Patrick's church (WA009-005024-) and now in the care of the Medieval Museum which is located on the medieval undercroft (WA009-005040-). The solid-ring cross, which was once at St. Patrick's Well (WA009-005073-) just to the SE of St Patrick's graveyard at the junction of Patrick St. and Stephen's St. is a thin slate of one piece, the top of which is broken (H 0.8m; max. Wth 0.6m; T 7cm). The panels of the quadrants of the wheel-head (diam. 0.6m) are recessed on one side, and the attached rectangular base (H 0.25m Wth 0.55m; T 7cm) is of one piece with the cross.
