What is recorded here

Half a metre of rough stone, no taller than a knee, it stands on the Monks' Graveyard in Sceilg Mhichíl. Two rounded notches cut into opposite sides hint at a cross arm lost to time or deliberate breaking. The slab is thin, barely seven centimetres, as if someone struck it rather than chiselled it. Whatever it marked, the monks buried beside it stopped coming. The graveyard kept its shape. The cross lost its own.

Cross described in 1996 as follows; 'The rough stone slab stands on the Monks' Graveyard [KE104A001046-] and may be a defaced stone cross; H: 0.6m W: 0.24m T: 0.07m' (O'Sullivan and Sheehan 1996, 289, no. 948 (70)).
