What is recorded here

In the interior of Teaghlach Éinne (GA119-020001-). Three fragments of a limestone cross shaft (Wth 0.43m, T 0.23m, H 1.39m) cemented together against W gable. Visible decoration includes a figure on horseback and knotwork, probably representing the ring of the cross. Henry (1970, 136-8) suggests that two cross fragments near the village of Cill Éinne (GA119-006004-), together with these three, originally formed part of the same high cross. (Killanin and Duignan 1967, 62) The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. I - West Galway'. Compiled by Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
