Creevaghern Island

Creevaghern Island is a small, circular islet in Lough Macnean Upper, County Leitrim, that still refuses to say whether people made it or the lake did. About fifteen metres across and barely three quarters of a metre above the water, it sits 180 metres from the western shore, overgrown and quiet. Crannogs elsewhere in Irish lakes were built as defensive or high-status dwelling places, but this one gives no visible proof either way. It remains a boundary marker of imagination: small enough to walk, obscure enough to remember.
