What is recorded here

Crannog in Kilcurly is a circular earth and stone platform twenty-two metres wide, ringed by large boulders and buried inside a marshy hollow that may have been a small lough. It is the kind of place where water, clay and memory tangle together, and where a household may have stood above the flood line while the land around it disappeared. The stones still mark the edge of that choice, holding a room shape in the wet dark long after the rooms themselves vanished.

In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
