Crannog in Brackloon North, tawnaghmore (costello By.) is an irregular island thirty to thirty-five metres wide in the north-west of Loughanamona. Drainage works in the 1960’s pulled back the water and exposed timbers that had waited beneath the surface. A person may have built that small island, joined wood against the lake and lived above the danger of drowning. The crannog still stands because the lake forgot to take it back.

In Lake Loughanamona. This possible crannog became visible in the lake in the 1960’s following drainage works. It was visited at the time and timbers were noted (NMI Correspondence Files, 1969; SMR file). it is evident now as an irregular shaped island (max. dim. 30-35m) is in the NW sector of the lake.
