Craigievar Castle stands as a seven-storey Scottish Baronial tower completed in 1626 by William Forbes, the merchant nicknamed Danzig Willy. His family occupied the L-plan building for three centuries, admiring plasterwork ceilings that feature the Nine Worthies and family emblems. The Forbes line held the seat until 1963, when the nineteenth Lord Sempill sold the property to the National Trust for Scotland.
