Cow Crag is a coastal rock feature composed of Silurian greywacke, formed around 440–420 million years ago through deep-sea sedimentation and subsequent tectonic compression. It is notable for its prominent position along the Northumberland coast and as part of the region's ancient volcanic and sedimentary rock sequence.
