Covenanters' Cave

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Covenanters' Cave as Cave (nil Antiquity), Covenanters Cave (17th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Covenanters' Cave is a natural limestone cave formed through the dissolution of soluble rock, typical of the Carboniferous Limestone formations found in parts of southern Scotland. The cave is historically associated with the Covenanters, who used it as a place of refuge during periods of persecution in the 17th century.
