Corfe Castle Village

Corfe Castle was built by William Peverel in the 11th century, following the Norman Conquest, and later held by the influential de Courcy family. It is important as a well-preserved example of a motte-and-bailey castle and played a role in both the 12th-century civil war and the English Civil War.
