Square-headed window openings with concrete sills, and replacement timber casement windows, c.2000. Square-headed door opening in square-headed open internal porch with glazed timber panelled door, and sidelights having leaded stained glass panels. An appealing, small-scale house that is representative of early twentieth-century suburban design, alluding to the bungalow-type model developed in India in the nineteenth century. Decorative elements, including polychromatic slate detailing, and the terracotta detailing to the roof, are typical of the period of construction, and enhance the aesthetic design interest of the composition. Reasonably well maintained, the house retains much of its early character, while the early exposed pre-cast concrete block construction is of some technical interest.
