What is recorded here

Concentric enclosure in Dunmore West is a hidden oval of two fosses on a gravel ridge above the River Nore, visible only as a cropmark rather than a broken line of stones. It sits where the land rises into a narrow ridge, giving a clear view across water and valley while keeping its own shape beneath grass and season. The outer circle may have marked distance, the inner circle may have marked devotion, and the space between them may have belonged to people who walked there before roads or written names.

On the crest and NE side of a broad gravel ridge (H 7-8m), running NW-SE, on the floor of the river valley. The ridge has been quarried along the SW side. The River Nore lies c. 440m to the W and the confluence of this river with the Dinin river is c. 660m to the NW. There are commanding views in all directions. A roughly oval enclosure (overall dims. c. 80m NW-SE; c. 65m NW-SE), identified as a cropmark on aerial photographs (CUCAP ASW040, 17 July 1967; AVO094, 17 July 1968; BOD026, 10 July 1973) consisting of two widely spaced fosses. The inner enclosure (dims. c. 40m NW-SE; c. 30m NE-SW) is defined by a wide fosse, berm (Wth c. 12-15m) and outer fosse. The monument is not visible at ground level.
