Though now in poor condition, and with much of the original paving and kerbing removed, this mid nineteenth-century paving scheme remains a significant contributor to the architectural heritage of the city. Surviving nineteenth-century paving schemes such as this are increasingly threatened by modern replacement. The fine Liscannor and limestone contrast with the modern concrete replacements, and add colour and textural variation to the streetscape.
