Snakes circled Cnockannuer before the survey wheel turned. Olive Alcock dropped her pen when the first ring cut through the bog water. Kathy de hÓra watched the second ring appear, uninvited, drawing a line through the green field. Paul Gosling named the place before the third ring closed around them. Cnockannuer was not a border between counties. It was a mouth, waiting for the chance to swallow what it wanted.

On a prominent hillock in bogland. Marked on 1st ed. of OS 6-inch map as a circular enclosure (D c. 50m). The hillock is now completely overgrown and no visible archaeological features were noted.
