What is recorded here
Gateway, extant 1840, on a symmetrical plan comprising pair of rendered, ruled and lined piers having cut-granite shallow pyramidal capping supporting quatrefoil-detailed wrought iron double gates. Road fronted at entrance to grounds of Clonard House.
A gateway forming part of a self-contained group alongside an adjacent gate lodge (see 15704209) with the resulting ensemble making a pleasing visual statement in a sylvan street scene at the entrance on to the grounds of the Clonard House estate.
This does not grant access. Most recorded buildings are privately owned; view them only from public ground unless the owner allows entry.
