Clogwyn yr Adar is a sea cliff composed primarily of Silurian greywacke and mudstone, formed around 440–420 million years ago during sedimentary deposition in a deep marine environment. The cliff is notable for its resistant rock formations and potential for fossil content, typical of the North Wales volcanic and sedimentary terrain.
