Clogrenan Castle (ruins)

Clogrenan Castle (ruins) still stands in County Laois, its broken walls catching light where a complete castle once blocked the sky. The surviving shape suggests rooms, passages and a defensible outline, although no intact chamber remains for a visitor to enter. What is lost can still be imagined: a kitchen fire, a guard at a gap, a family moving through darkness before the building decayed. The ruin does not need a finished story because its absence is the story.
