A large boulder, named on the 1st (1839) ed. OS 6-inch map and on the 1900 revision in Gothic script as, 'Cloghvickree' which is an anglised version of the Irish 'Cloch mhic rí' which means the 'stone of the king's son'. Compiled by: Jean Farrelly Date of upload: 1 March 2022

Linked to a local tradition of pilgrimage and healing, the site may have pre-Christian origins associated with a sacred stone or druidic practice. The name 'Cloch mhic rí' suggests a connection to a figure of royal or legendary status, possibly later Christianised or merged with saintly veneration.
