Clochan in Eochaill (bar. Árainn)

Part of Baile na mBocht (GA110-162----); in level cleared pastureland. Kinahan (1869d, 26, no. 9) refers to two 'Cnocáns [see also GA110-117----] that have been dismantled, and the ruins of the cells exposed. These cells were circular, 24 feet [7.3m] in diameter, and seem to have been of a regular beehive shape'. No visible surface traces survive. Three rectangular drystone structures visible in the field appear to be modern: (a) an animal shelter (L 3.8m, Wth 2.5m); (b) immediately to N are grassed-over remains (L >9.5m, Wth 4.9m); (c) to N of this again are the fragmentary remains (L >4.8m, Wth > 1.1m) of a third structure. Some of the stone from the clochans may have been reused in their construction.
