What is recorded here
Clochan in Cill Mhuirbhigh stands on a narrow limestone terrace near the SW coast of Inis Mór, preserving only fragments of its west, north and east walls. The ruined structure stretches more than four metres north to south, with a doorway marking the north wall and faint corbelling surviving at the northeast corner. Local memory names it Tí Caitlín Ní Lochrainn, suggesting a lived household rather than a forgotten shape. What remains is enough to picture a small room cut into the coastal edge, where stone and seam still hold the discipline of its making.
On narrow limestone terrace towards SW coast of Inis Mór. Known locally as Tí Caitlín Ní Lochrainn (Robinson 1980), it is almost completely destroyed, saving portions of its W, N and E walls (N-S >4m). There was a doorway in N wall and traces of corbelling survive at NE.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. I - West Galway'. Compiled by Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993).
