Cist in Kilgraney (idrone East By.)

Found during ploughing in 1986. Excavation revealed a short retangular cist (int. dims. 0.61m x 0.41m; H 0.3m), with large capstone. Contained cremated remains of female, male and child, and two bowl food vessels, one undecorated. (Cahill and Sikora 2011, Vol. 1, 71-80). It is possibly associated with a ring-ditch (CW019-125----) identified as a cropmarks on Google Earth Pro imagery (imagery date 14 July 2018). Early Bronze Age cist burial; dates to approximately 2000–1500 BCE. Its significance lies in the presence of cremated multiple burials and associated food vessels, providing insight into funerary practices and social structure of the period.
