What is recorded here

A cist (dims. c. 0.6m x 0.6m; D c. 0.45m) containing a cinerary urn and cremated bone was found in the early 1890s (Power 1895). Its find spot is not known now. (Waddell 1970, 133; 1990, 145) The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Waterford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). In certain instances the entries have been Compiled by: Michael Moore. Date of upload: 20th May, 2011.
Cist burial, likely dating to the Early Christian or early medieval period. Its significance lies in the presence of cremated remains and a cinerary urn, indicating a funerary practice that is relatively rare in the Irish archaeological record.
