Cist in Calary Lower

Situated on a gentle NW-facing slope in grassland. Polygonal cist with an inverted encrusted urn containing the cremation of a child. Not visible at ground level. Bronze Age cist burial, likely 12th to 11th century BCE. Its significance lies in the presence of an inverted encrusted urn, a rare funerary practice associated with early Bronze Age child burials in Ireland.
