What is recorded here

Killinchy In THE Woods held a medieval church now vanished beneath soil and memory. The site still marks the heart of the community, even when the building is gone. People may have gathered there for marriage, burial and prayer before the road or bridge gave the place its modern shape. What is lost is not nothing. The ground remembers the shape of devotion, and the name keeps the church alive in ordinary speech.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as CHURCH (site of). Recorded period: MEDIEVAL. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
