Kilclooney, Garthfying or Clancarney in Kilbracks held a church, graveyard and holy well during the medieval and early Christian periods. The names still circle one another like breath on glass, refusing to settle into a single identity. People may have drunk from the well, buried their dead beside the church and left the place behind when power shifted elsewhere. What remains is a threshold, not a monument, inviting imagination rather than certainty.
