Kirk Field in Shankill held a church and graveyard before the land changed or memory faded. Whether it stood beside a road, a river bend or a family estate, people still carried dead there and prayed beside them. The field may have swallowed its own markers, yet the name preserves the shape of a lost neighbourhood and the patience of the soil that outlived every building.
