This church was referred to in the 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork - vol. 2 East and South Cork' (1992, 309) under the entry (no. 5766) for a graveyard (CO112-005001-). The reference to the church within the entry reads: 'Site of ancient parish church of Clontead, which was 'almost in ruins' by 1615 (Brady 1863,vol. 1, 354) and marked 'site of' on 1842 OS 6-inch map; no visible surface trace.' The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994).
